KIT LYNCH Bio


CHICAGO BORN AND TRAINED

Born near Chicago, Illinois, her life has been filled with art, competitive horse jumping and previously as a commodity trader in the pits of the Chicago Board of Trade. Kit’s extensive formal art training took place in Chicago at The American Academy of Art and the Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts. She has been a full time artist since 1994.

TAOS

Kit Lynch is known for her bold vision of New Mexico. The boldness speaks of a daring use of color and moving compositions. New Mexico is an extra special place where she had her artistic breakthrough at Abiquiu, the home of Georgia O’Keeffe. Resident of Pilar, (POP + or – 100) a bedroom community of Taos, New Mexico since 1996. She founded the annual Pilar Studio Tour now in its eleventh year. In 2004, Kit Lynch was selected by the Town of Taos, NM to become their Taos Spring Arts Celebration Poster Artist and Ambassador. In 2006 she was a judge for the same competition. In 2005 Kit was the cover artist for “Christmas in Taos” a publication in it’s 24th year. Recently, Kit has been cover artist for both the “Tempo” arts section of the Taos News and the Rio Grande Sun arts section.

EXPANDING BEYOND

Kit Lynch has had many solo shows and has been judge for national and local juried competitions. Her works are in collections from coast to coast including that of New Mexico’s First Lady and Governor Bill Richardson. The Hans Hofmann painting philosophy has influenced much of her plein air work. Students from across the country benefit from her personalized instruction in private lessons or 3-5 day workshops.
